What is Stuttgart 21 ?

Stuttgart 21 is a railway project between Stuttgart and Ulm passing by
Wendlingen . This project is divided in several parts. Firstly, the
modernization of the railway between the two stations and
implementation of the high speed line (I.C.E.*). Moreover, the
construction of tunnel of 9.5km, The Fildertunnel, linking the central
station of Stuttgart and The Filder’s plateau. Thirdly the construction
of a new station, The Filderbahnhof , near the Stuttgart airport, to go to
Stuttgart station.

Why this project?

The Stuttgart 21 project has been set up to improve transportation,
urban development, ecology and the economy.the station is designed
to facilitate travel between the different stations with the new model
train that is the I.C.E. that will travel to a very high speed.this station is
also tourist destination, as the station will be modern it will attract tourist
to stuttart is already a tourist city in itself.

What are the advantages and drawbacks?

This project have lot of adventades and drawbacks:
highspeed
train will be available up to 250 km / h, acres of space will
be available after the work of the station available for imeubles and
houses,more green spaces will be created, faulty construction of the old
station will be rebuilt,the station will have ecological and economic
system .By against more than 150,000 trees were cut down and the
project is too expensive it will cost 300 millions euro between 2010 and
2034.

It is the opinion of the Stuttgart population?
